"Hearing is about far more than volume. Your ears gather sound; your brain makes sense of it. Together, they decide how you connect with the world around you."

From The Well Hearing Guide  ·  The Wellbeing by Cubex

A quiet conversation
01
Following every word,
without the effort.
Live music and sound
02
The dinner table
that feels easy again.
Being present in the moment
03
Ending the day
without the tiredness.
Inside the guide

Ten things worth understanding.

Read it at your own pace. There are no tests to pass and nothing to decide, only a clearer picture of your own hearing experience.

I
Why hearing changes are so easy to miss
It rarely arrives all at once. We explain why the people who cope best are often the last to notice.
II
The early signs that quietly add up
Noisy restaurants, "people mumbling," turning the television up a little. What these everyday moments can really mean.
III
Why hearing isn't simply about volume
Clarity, not loudness, is usually what changes first, and why that matters for conversation.
IV
The brain's role in hearing
How your ears and brain work together, and the connection between hearing and staying mentally sharp.
V
Why conversations can begin to feel tiring
The particular kind of end-of-day tiredness that's hard to explain, and where it comes from.
VI
What a standard hearing test might not explain
Why you can "pass" a test and still feel that something is different.
VII
What to know about hearing care today
How the field has changed, and how to tell genuinely independent advice from a sales process.
VIII
The most common mistakes people make
The assumptions that lead people to wait far longer than they needed to.
IX
What understanding your hearing should give you
Clarity and confidence, in plain language, without pressure to do anything at all.
X
The right next step, if there is one
How to think calmly about what comes next, entirely in your own time.

Adam Shulberg
FRSM, Senior Audiologist

"I wrote this guide for the person who senses something has changed, but isn't sure it's worth mentioning yet. Understanding always comes before any decision."

Adam qualified in 1980, one of the youngest audiologists in the UK at the time. Forty-five years later, his approach remains the same: every person is an individual, and understanding comes before any recommendation.

In 2001, he travelled to Nepal to establish an audiology clinic from scratch. By 2011 it had trained seven community audiologists and over 700 volunteers. He did not need to do that. It tells you everything about why he chose this work.

"I had been putting this off for years. From the moment I walked in I felt genuinely listened to, not managed. The difference since has been extraordinary. I had no idea how much I had been missing."

"Raúl was outstanding: patient, thorough and completely honest about what I needed and what I did not. I never once felt pressured. The whole experience was the opposite of what I expected from a private clinic."

"The technology they recommended has changed how I experience every single day. I can hear my grandchildren properly for the first time in years. I cannot recommend this team highly enough."
